This policy applies only to Good People?s handling of personal information. Third-party services, including Zeffy, Google, and social media platforms, have their own privacy practices.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

  • Contact information. When you use our contact form, email us, or call us, we may receive your name, email address, phone number, message, and any other information you choose to provide. On the current contact form, an email address is required; a name and message are optional.
  • Application or volunteer information. If you submit an application or ?get involved? form, we may collect your contact details and information about your interests, skills, experience, availability, preferred ways to help, and anything else you choose to include.
  • Donation information. Donations are processed through Zeffy?s embedded or linked donation form. Zeffy collects the information you enter, which may include your name, contact and billing details, donation amount, payment method, transaction details, and any optional information requested on the form. Good People?s may receive donor contact details, address information, donation and transaction records, and a general payment-method description. We do not receive or store your full payment-card or bank-account number through this Site. Zeffy and its payment partners process those details under their own privacy policies. Zeffy may also receive information entered into its form even if you do not complete the donation.
  • Direct communications. If you communicate with us by email, telephone, postal mail, or social media, we may retain the content of the communication and the contact information associated with it.

Please do not include Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, medical information, background-check information, or other highly sensitive information in a general contact or application form unless we specifically request it through an appropriate secure method.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical and usage information, such as:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address and approximate location;
  • browser, device type, operating system, language, and screen information;
  • referring and exit pages, pages viewed, date and time of access, and general navigation activity;
  • interactions such as page views, scrolling, outbound-link clicks, downloads, site searches, video activity, and starting or submitting a form; and
  • cookie identifiers, security events, diagnostic information, and information needed to prevent spam or abuse.

Google Analytics is currently configured on the Site for audience and usage measurement. Analytics events may record that a form was started or submitted, but are not intended to collect the free-text contents of your message.

3. How we use information

We may use personal information to:

  • respond to questions and requests;
  • review applications and coordinate volunteer, community, event, scholarship, food-drive, and other program activities;
  • process, acknowledge, administer, and maintain records of donations;
  • operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Site;
  • understand how visitors use the Site and evaluate the effectiveness of our content and outreach;
  • prevent spam, fraud, misuse, or security incidents;
  • protect our rights and the safety of our community; and
  • comply with accounting, tax, legal, regulatory, and recordkeeping obligations.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to respond to your request or administer a transaction, with your consent, to comply with legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as operating and protecting the Site and improving our community services.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for website operation, analytics, security, spam prevention, and embedded services. Google Analytics, Google reCAPTCHA, Google Maps, and Zeffy may set or access their own identifiers. See our Cookie Policy for more information and available controls.

5. How we disclose information

We may disclose information only as reasonably necessary to the following categories of recipients:

  • Website and communications providers. Our hosting, WordPress, Elementor form, security, caching, and email providers may process information to operate the Site and deliver form submissions. Form submissions may be stored within the Site and/or delivered to our designated email accounts, depending on the Site?s configuration.
  • Google. We use Google Analytics for website measurement, Google reCAPTCHA to reduce spam on forms, and an embedded Google Map on the contact page. Google may receive technical, usage, device, cookie, and security information when these services load.
  • Zeffy and payment providers. Zeffy hosts and processes the donation form and shares relevant donor and transaction information with Good People?s. Zeffy uses payment providers, including Stripe and supported digital-wallet or banking providers, to process payments.
  • EWWW Image Optimizer / ExactDN. Site images and other static assets are delivered through the ExactDN content delivery network. It processes asset requests and related technical delivery information.
  • Professional advisers and authorities. We may disclose information to accountants, legal advisers, insurers, regulators, courts, law enforcement, or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect rights or safety, or investigate misuse.
  • Organizational changes. If responsibility for Good People?s or the Site changes, relevant records may be transferred as part of that change, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not use information submitted through our contact or application forms for targeted advertising.

For more information about key providers, see Google?s Privacy Policy, Zeffy?s Privacy Policy, and EWWW Image Optimizer?s Privacy Policy.

6. Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Retention depends on the type of record and may include the time needed to respond to an inquiry, review and administer an application, coordinate activities, maintain donation and financial records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect the Site, and satisfy legal, tax, accounting, or reporting requirements. Third-party services retain information according to their own policies.

7. Your choices and privacy rights

You may choose not to provide optional information, although this may limit our ability to respond or involve you in an activity. You can control cookies through your browser as described in our Cookie Policy. If you receive a non-transactional email from us, you may ask us to stop sending similar messages.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent; or to appeal a privacy-related decision. These rights are subject to applicable exceptions. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

8. Children?s privacy

Some Good People?s programs benefit students and young people, but the Site?s general contact, donation, and application features are not intended to collect personal information directly from children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. A parent or legal guardian who believes a child has provided information through the Site may contact us to request review or deletion. Anyone under 18 should involve a parent or guardian before submitting an application or sensitive personal information.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect personal information, including encrypted HTTPS connections for the Site. No website, email, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please use care when deciding what information to send online.

10. International processing

Our service providers may process information in the United States, Canada, or other countries. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from those where you live. Where required, we and our providers use appropriate measures for international transfers.

11. Third-party links

The Site links to Zeffy, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google Maps, and other external sites. Clicking a link takes you to a service that Good People?s does not control. Review that service?s privacy policy before providing information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our Site, services, or legal obligations change. The ?Last updated? date at the top shows when this policy was most recently revised. Material changes will be posted on this page.
